During this week I had a tutorial with my tutor Darrly. During the tutorial we talked about who and what I'm reading at the moment. He told me to look at Diorama- Graham Rawle, Rob Ryan, Prick your finger is a modern haberdashery shop in Bethnal Green. Prick your finger hold regular workshop and exhibition, this is similar to the club Cast off. Also a book called Tactile dgv which is full of textile pieces of work, one I liked allot was images of animals that had been carved out of vegetables. The tutorial really helped as it gave me lots of inspiration and ideas for other projects.

Spent this week researching and preparing to write my Reporter essay. At the start of the week I was really struggling to find a practitioner I wanted to talk about. I was given a list by Darryl to look at Push pin studio, Fletcher Forbes & Gill, Eye Magazine, Arty Mag, Varoom, Pentagram, Drawn.ca and Icon mag. With the ones that I could access there work didn't really appeal to me. I knew I wanted to do my essay on paper cutting as I really enjoy this process and have used it many times within my work, so I had lots to talk about! When researching paper cutting I came across Rob Ryan, I really liked his work but his technique and ideas were not similar to mine. I then come across Peter Callesen's paper cuttings which gave me so much inspiration for my own work, that I knew he was the one I wanted to base my essay on. Callesen's paper cutout work well due to his technique of combining three and two dimensional imagery to create the illusion of realism within his work.
